Hey everyone! I hope that you had just such an amazing week!
Yes, the subject heading is a Wicked reference, but it has to deal with just a bit of what´s happened this week! I´ve just learned so much of the importance of making sure to keep your head up and leave stronger in the midst of any kind of challenge or trial that comes my way. Though I may not be perfect at it, I sure have gotten some practice here in the mission! Haha This week we were rejected by SO MANY PEOPLE! We had doors slammed in our faces (which is kinda rare because we don't knock on the doors here), profanities in both gurarani and spanish, investigators that seemed like they were truly interested and wanting to know more suddenly lose interest as if it were nothing, and honestly the list could go on and on...
BUT something that I've learned is that we need to continue strong in the midst of these moments! We need to remember that even though it may seem like everyone is against you at times, that the Lord is ALWAYS going to be right next to you! That has honestly given me a lot of comfort this week! I know that sometimes we might have some bad days, but there is always going to be something good if we continue to endure and press forward! Something that I love is regardless of the struggles and sad moments we have, the Savior is always there to help us and we are always able to find other people who will want to listen to us as missionaries! I truly love that and know it to be true! We found so many new people to teach this week and to me it was honestly a blessing! I know that Heavenly Father truly has a perfect plan to help us learn and grow each and everyday, we just need to be ready to go along for the ride!
I decided to study charity this week and seek for more ways to develop this christ-like attribute. I was very grateful for the study I had. Each day I was able to study different scriptures and just gain more of an appreciation for who my Savior Jesus Christ is. I know that I am beyond no where near perfect, but I also know that because He loves me I can receive peace and comfort. I tried to become more humble this week in asking more help from Heavenly Father and felt as though He answered my prayers. Not going to lie, this hasn't been one of my easiest tasks at hand, but I do know that as D&C 122:7-9 states, all things are given us for experience. It has been something that I have been learning throughout my entire mission and I know that if I continue to endure that I will gain more experience and strength.
My personal study this week has been absolutely extraordinary! I've been able to apply better the scriptures to my daily life and see just what I need to change to become more like my Savior and a better disciple. I read through Mosiah 23 yesterday and was reminded of the scripture that our mission has. Mosiah 23:14 ¨Ni confiéis en nadie para que sea vuestro amaestro ni vuestro ministro, a menos que sea un hombre de Dios, que ande en sus vías y guarde sus mandamientos.¨ This scriptures truly helps me remember that I need to be the kind of person that is walking in the paths of the Lord to be able to help teach and carry out the work of the Lord. We also had the chance to attend 2 baptisms this week for 2 kids in our ward! It always makes me so happy to see that no matter if you are 8 years old or 99, there is not a difference in just how deciding to follow Jesus Christ and be baptized can just bring so much happiness! it is honestly so beautiful! I honestly just love being here in Paraguay and teaching everyone that will listen about the love I have for my Savior! He is always going to be there to listen to our prayers and give peace to our souls! What an amazing blessing!
I hope you all are doing well and just have a fantastic week! Rohayhu. Hermana Mendoza
