(KNEEL) DOWN, BE HUMBLE

Hey everyone! I hope that you´ve had such an amazing week!

This has been a pretty good week! I´ve been thinking a lot recently about the things that i am grateful for and one of the things definitely is the chance I get to be here as a missionary serving the Lord for this time. What a privilege it has been to be here in Paraguay teaching people about Jesus Christ! I think that something that I have been learning is that despite all of the challenges and difficulties that we encounter, we must always be looking for more opportunities to come closer to our Heavenly Father and also to our Savior Jesus Christ. It honestly makes all of the difference and can change the way that we see things. Learning to be able to receive an eternal perspective on things helps us understand more the purpose of things.

I think that definitely the mission has taught me many life lessons thus far and has made me more aware of the weaknesses that I have. BUT the cool part is realizing that we have weaknesses so we can learn to be more HUMBLE and realize that we literally CANNOT do it on our own. No matter how hard we try, we might always end up not hitting the mark that we want to, BUT when we start to rely more on the grace and mercy of our Savior Jesus Christ, we can find more PEACE and COMFORT even midst the most difficult trials.

This I feel like has been one of the biggest things that I have started to learn and try to put more into practice. It´s interesting to see just how the contrary Satan is and how he always wants us to have contention and anger and just the worst feelings. BUT we have the choice to decide what we want to do. We´re in control of our actions and our thoughts and it all is honestly just up to what we decide to choose. It´s been cool to see this more within my scripture study as I finished the book of Mosiah this week and reflected more on Alma the Younger and the sons of Mosiah. They were some of the most vilest of people just persecuting the church and members, but they were able to have a change of heart and truly start to understand the main block in their happiness. When we are not living the gospel in our lives and are more selfish and unthoughtful we do not have happiness. I´ve decided that each time I am reading my scriptures that Heavenly Father is truly trying to teach and guide me within my personal study time, thus I need to be attentive and ready to apply what I learn. It has changed the way that I study :)

This week I also had the chance to go on a division with Hermana Pacaya in Itaguá! She is in her second transfer of the mission and is from Lima, Peru! It was her first time leading the area and she was able to take me to meet with some really awesome investigators that they are teaching along with being able to talk with everyone along the way! It was neat being able to work alongside her for the day and to learn from her! They are doing some great things in Itaguá!

The Hymn ¨Jesus. Lover of My Soul¨ has recently become one of my favorites and has reminded me of just the beauty it is to know that we have a Savior who loves us!

Jesus, lover of my soul,

Let me to thy bosom fly,

While the nearer waters roll,

While the tempest still is high.

Hide me, O my Savior, hide,

Till the storm of life is past.

Safe into the haven guide;

Oh, receive my soul at last.

Other refuge have I none;

Hangs my helpless soul on thee.

Leave, oh, leave me not alone;

Still support and comfort me.

All my trust on thee is stayed;

All my help from thee I bring.

Cover my defenseless head

With the shadow of thy wing.

I am truly grateful to be here and to continue learning and growing! I know that even though I get the chance to have an hour of time set aside each and every day here in the mission to study, that it doesn´t mean that it´s impossible to read the Book of Mormon every single day. Even if it´s just for 5 minutes, it honestly makes such a big difference!!!!!!!!!!!!! I invite you all to do so and to get on your knees and ask Heavenly Father to help you gain the guidance you need! :)
