What a crazy week this has been!
Last week we went to the zoo with the hopes of seeing real animals on pday but we found out that the actual zoo was closed. it was a sad day, but we went to the museam of the zoo to see the taxedermy type of animals and it was quite a visit! Hahahaha
The rain in Paraguay is NO JOKE! I am so so grateful that my dear mother prepared me well because this week was all about walking in the rain and trying not to get sloshed by the rain (it happened once) and not slipping and slidding in the mud and dirt.
On Wednesdays we always go to a recent convert´s house for a message and breakfast. LET ME TELL YOU.. Manuel is not the best cook out there and from the stories my companion told me I was praying my heart out while we were on the collectivo to head to his house. It was as if we were going to a funeral. Once we got to his house we decided to open with a song and share our message before ¨breakfast¨. My dear companion suggested we sing my favorite hymn ¨Abide with Me Tis Eventide¨ which was oh so sweet of her, but I started thinking of the lyrics along with what we were about to do and almost started to laugh, but covered itup with a cough HAHA. I thought I was going to die because we were going to eat the famous PESCADO CON LECHE. I had heard horror stories and was praying so hard. After my companion served me and herself she asked if we could have something to drink and then BAM after he left we ate a little bit, almost gagged and them poured the rest back in the pot. What a crazy experience!!!
On Thursday we had a quick meeting with out zone (all of the missionaries in our area) about some of the topics President Evans wanted us to study and I received a package from my momma! It was such a great experince and spiritually uplifting!
I'd like to share some of my personal study insights of the week:
1.Our Savior Jesus Christ truly suffered for each and every one of our sins, pains, and sufferings when he was in the Garden of Gethsemene and on the cross, BUT that didn´t take away our responsibility to daily repent and try to become more like Christ. WE still need to do our part in order to receive the blessings and help each day.
2.The scriptures become more clear and plain in writing to us when we learn to cherrish them and read them DAILY!!! I can truly testify of this and urge you all to read the Book of MOrmon daily! There is so much goodness, guidance, and love found within EACH page.
I also would like to just share my testimony about the power of prayer. I know that I am no where near perfect, but that when I pray to Heavenly Father he hears my pleas and prayers and truly does help me. I know that he hears your prayers too! We need to always remember that we are talking to our Father when we pray and that He wants to hear everything we have to say!
I am so so grateful to be on a mission and to be devoting my time to teach people about why I am so happy and that the gospel is for EVERYONE because we are all children of our Heavenly Father!
Thank you for all your love and support and please read the Book of Mormon daily to receive help and strength each day!
Much love,
Hermana Mendoza
