HELLO FROM PARAGUAY!
Gosh I can´t believe I´m finally out here in the field! Time just seems to fly by so fast! Since I didn´t get to write last week due to traveling, here´s a little update from Colombia!
1. I had a sweet opportunity to give a referral to the missionaries serving in the the area the CCM is in from a family back home in our branch! Though I was a little sad I coudn´t go myself, I know that the Lord´s work continues no matter what!
2. PACKING was not the most enjoyable thing to do, but thanks to the ever so wonderful Hermana Hansen, Hermana Smith, and Hermana Brewerton I was able to get everything packed up and DIDN´T HAVE TO PAY ONE DIME! #blessed
3. Saying goodbye to my district wasn´t the funnest, but I´m excited to see how great they do in the field
If you´re reading this in the CCM just know that President and Hermana Hansen are the best and give them lots of hugs for me!
OKAY! I arrived in Asuncion at 235 in the morning! Hahah and that same day after getting about 4 or 5 hours of sleep we went to the mission office. Presidnet and Sister Evans are THE BEST! They took us to a HUGE tree that years ago President Ezra Taft Benson went to to dedicate Paraguay and promised many great blessngs for missionary work. Just a year ago Elder Rasband (an apostle of our church) came to the same tree and promised that those blessings are now going to be fulfilled! One of the belssings included that thousands and thousands are going to be baptized!
Such a cool experience! I was oh so excited when President Evans announced that my trainer is........ A LATINA! Hermana Tenorio is from Brazil and has been our 4 months! She is so funny and we get along so well! She´s so patient with me and my Spanish and I definitely know that we were meant to be together! We are serving in Loma Pyta, an area in the captial (Asuncion)! My first night she treated me to Lomita! It´s super good and yáll should look it up!
On my first real day in the field we road the collectivo (bus) and it was so crazy! The roads in Paraguay are filled with rocks and uneven areas so I am grateful for the ankle stretches we do every day! It is also super sandy and muddy so my nice black shoes are no longer black and nice! Haha.
I also got to witness my first Paraguay thunderstorm and lets just say that Missouri doesn´t even compete! Right now it´s winter and the weather is perfect so I´m slightly worried about summer hahaha!
Okay lets talk missionary work! WOW! The work is truly amazing! We have so many investigators and my heart seriously has grown to love these people already! On Thursday we went to an area called Amistad and it is SUPER HUMBLE. The homes are seriously made out of cardbord and their floors are dirt, but wow the people are so kind. When we were there on Wednesday we started talking to two kids about the gosple when one of our appointments fell through and WOW it was amazing! Rodolfo is 14 years old and was super interested in our message. We stated our purpose to teach and invite people to come unto Christ and follow his example of baptism. We then gave him the Plan of Salvation pamphlet and told him we´d come by on Saturday. We didn´t know where in Amistad he lived, bbut ended up finiding his house! When we got there he said that he read the pamphlet and LOVED IT! AND his brother and cousin sat in on our lesson! WOW! It is truly sucha thing to see people want to change! Heavenly Father turly has a plan for each an everyone of us and I am glad I get to be a part of it to help others find it!
Thank you all for you love and support! I know that I am here for a purpose and I have gained my love for the gospel through reading the Book of Mormon each day. WOw. If you want to find what real joy is then the key is reading the Book of Mormon EVERYDAY! God has a plan for us and we can feel peace through this book!
LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!
Hermana Mendoza
P.S. Oh and gringa gua´u means gringa mentida or like how I´m from the USA but it´s kinda a lie because i´m latina! Gua´u is Guarani!
