It's been another wonderful week here in Colombia! Honestly this week hasn't been the busiest with new things, but has been pretty darn good if I say so myself!
After yesterday concluded the flooding of new elders and hermanas in the CCM! So crazy how fast this all goes! I can't believe that my district is just beginning our 5th week out here! I seriously don't believe that at all and am just soooooooooo pumped to go to Paraguay in 2 weeks!
Okay so Here are some of the highlights from this week:
1. The newbies entered in the CCM and now we are not the only people in the CCM! This new group is so sweet and I'm so excited to be with them
2. Hermana Smith and I gained a new companion this week and she is just our pride and joy! Hermana Brewerton is so sweet and I just love how excited she is to learn spanish!
3. The new group of Nortes (Americans) is huge! There are a total of 9 of them! Basically two times the size of my district!
4. With the new group of missionaries we received two new teachers! They are Hermano Lechuga (In English it is Brother Lettuce haha) and Hermano Yanez (HE SERVED HIS MISSION IN PARAGUAY AND IS TEACHING ME GUARANI)
For those of you who do not know, Paraguay has 2 official languages: Spanish and Guarani. Guarani is an indigenous type of language and is nothing like spanish!
5. Speaking of Guarani, one of the sisters in our room is FROM PARAGUAY! She is literally and I truly mean literally an angel! I am so thankful to know Hermana Francou and she is so willing to answer my questions about Paraguay!
6. One of the sister missionaries here was supposed to go to the Argentina MTC but because of visa issues is in the Bogota Colombia CCM! AND SHE IS GOING TO PARAGUAY ASUNCION NORTH MISSION! AHHHHHH I may have freaked out a bit
7. With receiving new teachers Hermana Smith and I also received new investigators (or people who are not members of the LDS faith and are learning about our religion) to teach! They are so so sweet and we invited our investigator Americo to be baptized and he said yes! I can't really think of a joy quite like inviting someone to be baptized :)
Okay and here are some great stories from the week
1. On Thursday morning I had an early morning wake up call by a bloody nose! Those who know me well might not be surprised about me getting one! But I didn't let this bloody nose stop me from my personal scripture study in the morning! hahahah it seriously lasted an hour :P
2. I was given the wonderful opportunity of speaking during church in sacrament meeting on Sunday! Each week everyone is told to prepare a talk about a certain subject (this week was the Holy Ghost) and then President Hansen picks four speakers each Sunday to speak! I was blessed with the opportunity of studying more about the Holy Ghost and it definitely blessed my life!
3. Those who also know me well know that I can be a bit of a clutz here and there :P so you wouldn't be too surprised that I jammed my finger playing volleyball yesterday! It's all swollen and bruised but I'm still typing and all so it really isn't that bad!
I know this is long, but I wanted to also include a message for you all.On Sunday we had a lesson about the importance of obedience and how we can see the blessings when we follow it!
"When we are almost being exactly obedient we almost receive blessings."
I truly believe this and just want to remind y'all of the importance of being obedient! Heavenly Father truly loves us and wants to bless us, but we must also show our love to Him by obeying His commandments.
I love you all so much and hope that you are doing well!
REMEMBER JOHN 16:33!
Love,
Hermana Mendoza
