WHAT'S UP FROM BOGOTA YOOOOO

Hola familia y amigos,

I know this is what you all have been waiting for!!! I seriously cant believe that I am in Colombia! Ive been here a week and that is seriously soooooo crazy to me but I am seriously loving it soooo much! It doesn't seem like its been a week already! When I flew out here I thought that I was flying by myself because my MTC location changed (missionary training center) about 3 weeks from when I left. I originally was assigned to go to Mexico City for the MTC but I am so thankful to be here in Bogota.

I ended up meeting 3 elders and one sister missionary in the Bogota airport so that was definitely a blessing to say the least! During the plane ride from Atlanta to Bogota I was in between two ladies from Bogota! They were so helpful and kind to me and helped me already begin speaking spanish

I have been able to see the blessing of why my mission training center changed to Colombia each day. There are only about 50 of us intotal in the MTC and only 10 Americans! Everyone else is from other countries in Central and South America. My companion Hermana Smith and I are the only ones from the US in our room! We are rooming with 4 other latinas and they are soooo funny and helping! It has definitley helped my Spanish grow by being able to talk with them.

Hermana Smith is from Arizona and I am so grateful to have her as a companion. It's super funny because even though she doesn't have a hispanic background ethnically she still continues to help teach and correct my Spanish during the day. She and I get along so well and are seriously two peas in one pod HAHAHA.

There have been many laughs, struggles, blessings, and good food during my first week out here. :)

Most of the day we spend time working on our Spanish as well as learning how to teach, and memorizing phrases and words. Sometimes it can be tiring, but I have such a strong testimony of the importance of being diligent in your studies and taking the time to humble yourselves before God.

I am so so soooooo grateful for the decision I have made to serve a mission. I know that it will allow me to grow closer to God and learn how to love those around me while I share what I love most with them :)

I just want to thank you all for your love and support! My last words would be to always remember that you can turn to Heavenly Father with whatever matters are in your heart. He loves you and will always be there to listen to you!!

Much love from your favorite latina in Colombia :P

Hermana Mendoza
